The 2012 Streets Alive Project- LEACOCK CHAIRS - Celebrating 100 Years of 'Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town'. These Chairs are simply amazing! Ron Schell- who made the Sailboats, is making the Chairs modelled after Leacock's favorite reading / writing chair that is on display in the Leacock Museum. The original chair has red leather cushions and wooden arm rests. Ron has replicated this chair entirely from sheet metal. 50 or more artists will transform the chairs into beautiful works of art! The Streets Alive projects are huge undertakings with huge budgets! $125,000 + must be raised each year to make the projects a reality. The business community of Orillia has come forward every year BUT we also need the community at large to help! A dozen or more of the Chairs will have 'Groups of Sponsors' (each person in the group contributing a fraction of the overall sponsorship cost) This year we are looking for groups of 10, with each person or family contributing $175 towards one Chair. Chairs will go up for auction at the end of the project in Oct. 2012. Infromation at : jackandmaddy@rogers.com
